Rangefinder Publishing Announces Three Photography Contests

Summer and fall photography contests search for the best-of-the-best in digital photography

Hollywood, CA (July 21, 2011) - Rangefinder Publishing, a division of Nielsen Photo Group, announces today three new summer and fall photography contests that will award fabulous prizes to photographers for the best images in categories such as Wedding, Digital Imaging and People, Places and Things.

Rangefinder Magazine's "Wedding Photo Contest - The Best in Contemporary Wedding Photography", AfterCapture's "PIX Digital Imaging Contest" and Rangefinder's "Take Your Best Shot" contest provide photographers with an opportunity to have their photography recognized as the best-of-the-best by two of the most highly-regarded professional photography publications and renowned judges as well as their peers.

"These three photography contests were created to provide professional as well as up-and-coming photographers with an outlet to get their most creative and inspiring images noticed," said Bill Hurter, Editor of Rangefinder and AfterCapture magazines. "And in addition to a photographer entering to win any of these contests they also have the opportunity to have their entry chosen as a 'People's Choice' selection."

Wedding Photo Contest
This contest focuses on Contemporary Wedding Photography. Categories include: Bridal Portrait, Bridal Party and Destination Wedding.

Prizes include:
1st Place: All 1st place category winners receive a Nikon CoolPix P7000 Digital Camera, a 20 x 30-inch, 1.5-inch-thick Gallery Wrap courtesy of White House Custom Colour (WHCC), full registration to WPPI 2012 and three Master Classes and a one-year subscription to Rangefinder.
2nd Place: Full registration for WPPI 2012 and a WPPI-U Class 3rd Place: Full registration for WPPI 2012

All winners will be featured in the October print issue of Rangefinder along with photographer bios and write-ups. All winners will also be featured in an online gallery.

Deadline for the Wedding Photo Contest is July 31, 2011. Judges are Roberto Valenzuela, Bambi Cantrell and Jim Garner. Sponsors include: Mitsubishi Electric Photo Imaging, WHCC and Finao Albums.

PIX Digital Imaging Contest
AfterCapture's PIX Digital Imaging Contest recognizes excellence and innovation in digital imaging including retouching, CGI, 3D, compositing and other post-production techniques. Categories include Single Image, Series (limit 5 images), and Student (Image or Series; must provide copy of student I.D.).

Each Category winner will receive:

Deadline to enter the PIX Digital Imaging Contest is August 1, 2011. Contest judges are: Zana Woods, Wired Magazine; Mark Mayer, Moving Image & Content; James Digby-Jones, Saddington & Baynes, Studio 3 and David McLain, Merge.

Take Your Best Shot Contest
Photographers are invited to submit their best images of People, Places or Things.

Prizes include:
Grand Prize: Winning photo will be a Rangefinder Cover!
1st Place: All 1st place category winners receive a Digital SLR, a Zoom Lens from Tamron, a $200 B&H Gift Card, full registration to WPPI 2012 and three Master Classes and a one-year subscription to Rangefinder.
