I bumped up the contrast then used a gaussian blur filter to soften the noise. I was actually trying to attempt what the photo might have looked like when first taken. I didn't do much with the faces since there really wasn't enough detail to "redraw" it accurately.

I like seeing how everyone did the pics & I think everyone else did much better than I did. Honestly I haven't done a whole lot of restoration so this was a good project to work on.

The hardest part in this particular case seemed like the faces to me.. and the background. This was a picture taken in Poland and I think you guys have done a great Job.. My sincere thanks to everyone who tried :-)

What would be really interesting is to look over the shoulder as these were being reconstructed. The faces as you mention were difficult. I tried a little trick in my attempt. I mirrored the image and used the reversed right cheek of the lady on the left to rebuild her destroyed left side. I was using a feathered almost opaque tool and the results might have been cleaner if I had taken more time.

ok. Finial edit. Worked on trying to pull up detail in the faces, and cleaned up the backround a little more. Was a good challenge / exercise. I had fun. Hope you enjoy it.
