Anything worth shooting in Vegas?

I'll be on a business trip in Vegas for 3 days and was wondering if, besides the night light shows and the typical touristy things to photograph, is there anything close to down town that's worth the trek to go shoot? I've only been one time and I don't know the place at all, besides that its in the desert.
Thanks

I believe Red Rock Canyon is supposed to be very close to the Las Vegas down town area ..

I am a serious hobbyist and I am constantly trying to challenge myself with new and interesting shots. My photography can also be viewed here:

Red Rock Canyon is 12 miles west of the strip. Good place to go in the early morning. There are some wild burros on the west end of the park. Sometimes you see them, sometimes you don't. Here are a couple of shots from there. I never saw a cloud while I was there, so that wasn't very good for nice images.

Don't forget Valley of Fire State Park. It's not real close. It's about 55 miles north of Vegas.

Everything is worth shooting in vegas. Get away from the typical tourist photo ops and use your photographer's eye to shoot everything else.

Thanks for all the replies. It was unfortunate that I didn't get to shoot anything except for out the window of my hotel. Shots not even worth keeping in the camera. I found the shots and video from the airplane will have more impact for my kids than anything else I shot. My plan was to rent a motorcycle and get out of dodge to shoot. Meetings went from 8am to 9pm though...

Anyways, maybe next time.... and again thanks for all of the ideas.
