Submitting a portfolio

I recently applied for a portrait studio job. I have an interview coming up and they ask me to bring in a portfolio.

First, I was wondering if I should include a kind of "resume" or letter explaining the equipment used and conditions/situations I've shot in?

Also, how big should the portfolio be? I current have 40 images selected to send to them and I'm worried that many might be too many or overpowering for them. Is there a limit I should send to them?

Thanks for any help, it's really appreciated

It might not hurt to ask what they expect to see.

I really don't think that it's necessary to include the equipment that you used, but a short resume might be a good idea.

When it comes to a photo portfolio, I always say that less can be more.

send them your best 20 and make sure they are A4 or 10"x8" in a good quality presentation portfolio, put a short resume in the front, they dont need to know about your equipment they will ask you at your interview, good luck and come back to tell us how you got on.

Alright, thanks. I knew 40 had to be too many. This is my first time submitting a portfolio, so I don't want to mess it up.

At the interview just be yourself, relax, try to show confidence and give a winning smile.

I can still remember my first interview as I was going in I was literally trembling, but after a few minutes deep breathing I held it together and got my first job in photography, I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

Yes it was called Yoo photography and was run by a married couple, they trained me for about a week as they had strict requirements as to poses, lighting and file size etc, wich is why I left in the end as it was to restricting, I like to fly by the seat of my pants. :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :toocrazy: :toocrazy: :toocrazy:
