Have you ever photographed a celebrity or famous person?

Here's me at an event photographing Al Gore.

I also photographed the Canadian Ambassador (Kenneth D. Taylor) who was in that movie Argo (well he was played by an actor in that movie).

I actually shouldn't show images of those because they were closed door events because there was a North Korean defector at the same event and it could cause troubles for that guy.

Do they put many restrictions on you at those closed events?

Usually they say no one should take photos and they state that the event falls under "Chatham House Rules"

Out of respect for privacy I don't post a lot of my work stuff online.

Oh and they usually tell people that they shouldn't take photos.  But there's often a bit of phonetography going on, if you know what I mean ;)

Personally I find the events super boring.

People you should know, Ted Kennedy was in South Africa in the mid '80's with a film team to show the ills of Apartheid. He used this film for a promotion film to get Presidential nomination.
He got drunk and was looking for more alcohol at 3 am and was screaming in the hotel passage when he found out room service was only till 1am.

I followed him for a few days for a local newspaper to photograph his antics.

When I lived in Namibia, the Queen of England visited there in the '90's. We were told not to use flash, but one spot we were given was under a wooden slat verandah. NASTY striped shadows. Bugger protocol, we whipped out our flashes and tried to make the queen look less than a graphic art image.

I got to take photos of Keanu Reeves when he was in Sydney filming The Matrix. He like riding so we organised a closed race track and some bikes for him and I took photos of him racing (rather slowly) around the track and then we hung out for beers

Ok, now I'm confused.  Are you there as a freelance, or are you contracted to take photos?  Except as a spectator, and for weddings, I've never been around event photography.  Much less private events.

I'm hired by the event organiser.  I'm allowed to take photos. No one means non-official photographers.

On topic.

I also photographed William Mounce once.  Means nothing to most people, but he (and his father) are experts at Koine Greek and helped with the ESV translation of the Bible.
