Yes but it is a variable aperture lens, 4.5/5.6 if I remember correctly.

Yeh, the sigma 50-500 surprised a lot of people that it was actually not terrible. Some say it's even better than the 150-500, which is kinda weird.

Personally I'm waiting to see what the Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8 DG OS will be like. If the Sigma 35 1.4 is anything to go by the new "Sports" lens will be great. Not sure I need it seening as I have the 70-200 2.8L IS II, but I'll see. I think perhaps a 400 5.6 would be nice or perhaps a 400 5.6L IS (if Canon bring that lens out) or a 100-400 Mark II (if Canon bring that out). lets see.
