Have you ever gotten yelled at for taking photos of something?

I was told off by 2 gendarmes for setting up a tripod in the Palais Royale in Paris once.
Got the shot though!

For some reason business in the city seem to think they own the sidewalk in front of their business because the city makes them clear the snow...uhhh nope...had bank security once try and tell me they owned the sidewalk when I was taking pictures of the building...

Funny thing though, go there on a weekend and nobody really seems to care... ;)

:agree: If you are in a public space, anything goes except maybe peeking in a window  .
That chef is why I carry a heavy monopod.

Correct if it is in the public arena then it is open to shoot. Now I will not shoot a photo of someone if they object to it on the street, but that is not because I cannot, it is because I choose to respect their wishes. There are exceptions to this rule though, if I see something possibly news worthy I will shoot it in a heart beat despite protestations.

I have had some make that exact argument to me, and I told them to take that policy up with the city. That even though the city makes them clear snow it is still public property. Again some people insist that they have the right to tell you what to do in public as far as photography goes. They learn otherwise if they try and stop the right people.
