Ocean waves with slow shutter speed + panning

I really like the way these turned out, I think I might have to try it out.

To bad he didn't share what shutter speed he was using for these. Would be interesting to see some EXIF data and how these looked out of camera and how much was enhanced in post. Incredible work either way.

With that amount of blur, somewhere between 1/8 and 1/20 of a second would be my guess.

+1 now the big question is what sort of equipment was he using.

Canon 7D w/grip, Canon 40D, Canon 70-200mm f2.8 IS L Canon MPE 65mm f2.8 macro; Sigma 70-300mm f2.8; Sigma 150mm f2.8 macro; Sigma 8-16mm f4.5-5.6

I don't think equipment matters much. I bet I could do that with my "point&shoot." I will see if I can find a location and give it a shot, soon. (well, maybe when it warms up a bit more) ;)

I would love to try this, I was out a few weeks ago and got some great shots of a running river with a 3 second shutter but later that day when I tried the same set up with the ocean waves it didn't work as well.

You will not be judged as a photographer by the pictures you take, but by the pictures you show.
