Most photographers introverts?

10 years 8 months ago #292258 by Ian Stone
Is there any truth to this? Rather has there been any studies that support this statement? Of course I was reading another persons blog post this morning that was characterizing photographers and how they compare to other creative occupations. It was suggested that most photographers are introverts and people who work best solo?

Thoughts?

I think there are too many people doing this to pigeon hole all of them. You'll probably find photographers come in many flavors......

Why so serious?

That could not be more right. If you crawl into a shell around people your not gonna sell much no matter how good you are. i have a video on Ansel Adams. He didn't do a whole lot other than survive until he hired a manager. Introvert's don't have good people skills and no matter what your selling, you need them.

I think photographers are from all fabrics. You have the out going ones and then you have the shy ones

I am friendly as hell for the most part. I do not go around just striking up conversations with people out of the blue, but will talk with people anytime. Now I have met some shooters who are pretty much introverted, and also met the very rude as well. So as has been said we come in many flavors.

I'd comment but I'm too scared of people.

OMG I use to be so shy when I started, after I got comfortable with my camera, things became so much easier for me to socialize with people

I think being a photographer forces you to be less of a introvert

I knew a very successful photographer that could hardly look you in the eye when you talked to him. His wife was very outgoing and did all his marketing and appointments. Obviously people were not on his list of subjects to photograph.

Well i do have a curveball for you guys i am a introvert through and through love working alone and being left alone sad i know but i am the total opposite when i'm behind the lens :P

But i do agree what most say that we do come in all flavors much like any other occupation/hobby.

Success is only determined by the amount of "want" you have inside you, and to remind yourself that you CAN!
