Getting posing figured out

10 years 5 months ago #313855 by Allen Carrel
I hope this is right place to post this question. I'm brand new here and somewhat to photography. Well I have had this camera for 1 year, but only have been really trying to get serious in the last month. The biggest challenge I am having is posing. I have trouble thinking of poses, does anyone have any tips to share with me?

Well, my tip would be: Go to the streets and take photos of the people in their natural posings.

But I suppose that is not what you are looking for.
The following link is in German only but on the bottom of the page
you will find sketches of posings (can be enlarged by clicking on) which may help.

Welcome to the site Allen, I just signed up here a few months ago myself. It's a great site with a lot of information. I generally like to keep an eye on this tips forum: www.photographytalk.com/forum/tips-and-taking-photos they have hundreds of useful video tips in there, and I know there are many on posing. I would suggest taking some time and reviewing some of these tips.

If you have a smartphone (Android or iPhone) you can buy, for a mere $2.99, an app called Posing App. I know quite a few of my friends and mentor use this for added help. I kinda fly by the seat of my pants personally. I look at the natural movements of my subjects and tweak from there. I am also quite new to working with people, so others may have more info.
