How many of you got into photography with the intent of becoming a pro one day?

When I first started photography, it was all about the experience and taking good photos, never even thought about going "pro".

Canon 7D, 15-85mm, 18-55mm, 70-200mm, 100mm Macro, Sigma 120-300mm, Speedlite 430EX II

A bad day at the race track is better than a good day in the office

I started when I was 9, so no it was not even a part of my thought process.

Goal?  Sure who wouldn't it be.  Was I expecting? Sadly no, I'm a realistic person and I know my work isn't the same eye catching quality as many of you.

Nope. It just happened, and I made a safe escape after a few years.....:)

Why so serious?

I believe that being a pro is only consequential if you really have the gift. This is an aesthetic ability. It is a gift. If you have, you have it. If you don't, well you can still practice and become a pro.

I'm 19 years old and that would be a dream come true.  I'm working hard to make photography a viable career path!

No, I was in high school/college when I started. Somewhere along the way I knew I would someday do 'something' with my photography, just didn't know what it would be.

I think if you have some ability or talent, and you learn and work at it, then it's a matter of time and pursuing opportunities to accomplish what you want. And sometimes it can go in a different direction than you planned (which for me was sports, but I got into it and loved it), and I'm now doing more what I'd thought I'd do (art photography).

For me it's been a sideline, not something full time or that I need to make money at, but I expect to be compensated for my work.
