Cameras as a piece of art to photograph

9 years 3 months ago #422800 by Great Moments
I just got back from visiting an old high school friend that i have not seen in years.  To find out, he has a thing for photography too.  Once of his photos, which apparently is one of his older shots he framed was of an old Pentax film camera.  The photo was B&W and it looked IMO like a piece of art that was worthy of the framed photo in his man cave.

On the drive home, this got me thinking about a potentially fun project of photographing older cameras as art.  I could use some help, in your opinion what are some timeless cameras that just have amazing construction and design?  Something that would look interesting photographed and blown up.

Let me know your thoughts on this one.  Thanks in advance.

Not to come across as uncertain, I believe most old and new cameras can become art if photographed right.  It's all about that unique angle, lighting, etc.

I've taken pictures of cameras in my collection, sometimes with another collectible or retro looking object in the background (like my reproduction Bluebird radio). Just did it for the fun of it, playing around with my digital camera, since I have umpteen film cameras I have built in 'models' around the house, lol have various midcentury whatever's, art deco box Brownies, etc.

I actually surf around antique shops for old cameras. I got lucky and found a 1912 camera for 15$, I love shopping for old antique camera's, even trying to find some that still are usable.

Give it a try, its a lot of fun and tends to be cheap.
