Printed albums will cease to exist because of environmental impact

We see people recycling, moving to electric cars, buying environmental friendly products.  A bloggers post had me thinking where he was talking about printed albums will within the next 5 years will cease to exist.  Now I thought that was a little bit of a odd timing forecast.  Perhaps 20 years.

Honestly I'm on the fence with this one.  How do you sway on the subject.  I'm sure the paper suppliers will come up with alternatives.

Then again you have people just moving to digital too.

Ki think things are going to move to digital because that is the way the net generation is heading. As for Environmental reasons there is far more negative impact on the planet with digital devices than there is with a piece of photographic paper

and somethings should just not go digital:

Doubtful, typical doom and gloom topic to scare public.  If there is a need (and for albums there is), the creators will use some sort of synthetic or recycled paper.

My Camera Bag:

Canon 7D | 50mm f/1.2 | 17-40mm f/4 | 70-200mm f/2.8 | 320EX | 580EXII

Right. Because anyone can post something on the internet and position themselves as an expert.

They've been predicting the "paperless office" since I was in college (which is a pretty long time). Hasn't happened yet, and we will never get rid of tangible materials. And frankly, prints are way better than displays.

Oh isn't that the truth.  And our kids and grandkids will be hearing the same thing IMO.

Nikon Z6 | Nikon FM10 | Nikon D80 | Nikon 50mm f/1.8D | Nikon 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6 AF-S VR | 35-105mm f/3.5 Macro | 80-200mm f/4.5 | SB600 | Pocket Wizard II

People will always want something tangible to hold, and be able to come back to that does not require a power cord, or recharging. Just look at the predictions on books since the Kindle tablets. We keep hearing that books will go the way of the Dodo, and I keep seeing them printing even more books. While there may be a certain segment of the population that will go totally digital, it will not be the majority.
