Photographing a wedding with ONLY a drone?

I found this and although I give the photographer credit, not sure I feel the whole thing: www.photographytalk.com/forum/photograph...st-it-in-here#482562

What are your thoughts?

Interesting, ideas are churning in my head!  I wonder if the photographer had someone operating the drone while one on the camera?

I would use one.  But not as the primary camera.

Good idea and original, however I can't imaging having that many clients who would be 100% happy with this this sort of vantage point.

Hard to believe anyone would want only aerial views of their wedding. Maybe those adventurous folks that jump off of buildings and such would be a good test group.

Cool idea, but wouldn't want to do simply because if that crashes and hurts someone, you are screwed!

I like the idea of this, however it wouldn't replace the main on the ground shots from my DSLR.  I would have a second shooter take photos from the drone as photos to compliment the over all portfolio given to the client.

I agree with Peter. I think a drone could be useful for a second shooter but I would never use a drone exclusively for my wedding shots. The addition of aerial shots would provide a really unique perspective of the day though!

This idea actually sounds pretty sweet to me, probably because I'm getting married next year. Hm...

Maybe I can be the guinea pig, and let you guys see the results from it!

I tried flying one of these and surprisingly they are super fun.  I would need some serious practice before trusting my camera to be on one!

Cool, but too novelty to me

I think it could be useful if you're a professional photographer and a professional drone pilot. There's just too much that can go wrong if you aren't both, from crap photos taken by a pro drone pilot or crap flying by a pro photographer. As others have said, I think it would be best used as a second shooter to supplement more traditional images. I also wonder about the noise. I know they aren't that noisy, but it still might be a distraction. Of course, it seems to me that a flying robot overhead would be a distraction in the first place. :)

I have enough to worry about when shooting a wedding. Adding a drone to the mix would just be too much!

Wouldn't a drone be really loud and distracting, especially in a wedding context??

I think it would have to be a pretty specific client to go for that.
