Power on button is sticking

4 years 6 months ago #663420 by Uplander
I seem to have gotten something spilled on my camera. I found a couple spots of dried liquid on the top of my camera.  I attended a party last night and had set my camera down.  I’m pretty sure this is spilled drink of some sort.  One of the spill marks is right on the power button.  Thoughts on how to clean this out?  The button sticks when you turn it on.

Thank you

G'day mate

Don't like the sound of this one ... if the spilled drink was a soft-drink with sugar, the sugar will dry and harden. If it was an alcohol liquid, I don't know :(

If a cola type drink was spilled on that camera, its as corrosive as salt water. I'd waste no time getting it to a repair facility for a good CLA.

Yeah, I would use a paint brush with a little water on the end.  Just damp. That should work.  Oh wait, if cola, then I would have a professional look that right away.

Thanks everyone, I ended up sending it into Nikon.  So crossing fingers this won't be a pricey repair.

Have them totally Clean, Lube , and Adjust while there. (CLA)...It'll come back like new and they usually update the firmware if needed as well, and clean the sensor.....
You made a good decision.
