Me thinketh it is called "SODS LAW" believe me it is something we cannot avoid.

I have lost count of the photos I have missed either through not carrying it or it being in my camera bag so I firmly believe that I wasnt meant to get that particular shot and just frame it in my memory banks.

Baydream summed it up well. Sometimes you get the shot and sometimes you don't. This picture I shot out the car window and how I managed to see this, roll down the window, grab my camera and get a halfway decent photo sitting at a traffic light I have no idea. With an all manual film camera.

On the other hand today I was going thru a box of B&W photos I did in the darkroom to find some of the rejects that I don't know why I saved, the ones that I had to tinker with and do a lot of dodging and burning - at least my crappy prints gave me something to try out hand-tinting photos.

But of course if I could I would have framed this shot a little differently, changed my vantage point, etc. etc.etc.

I've had bald eagles and owls in my back yard, and by the time i got my camera they were gone. I know how you feel. Just luck of the draw my friend.

Yesterday the butterflies were so active I couldn't catch them- flying all around. I decided to enjoy the show instead of fight to frame a shot I wasn't getting. The other day playing with my kids at the park Hubby said forget the camera- don't you know all the dragon flies were out and ready to be snapped.

Well, one of the finches came back tonight & I went & got the camera. Not the best of shots as I shoot thru both the window glass & screen, but at least I got something...Little birds are hard.

I think it's pretty good, especially since you shot through glass and screen.

A couple of months ago, I saw my very first wild Bald Eagle flying overhead. Of course, I was standing on the deck and my camera was on the desk in the computer room. By the time I ran and got the camera, the bird had moved on.

On the other hand, I was taking photos of my tulips in the front yard, and had this experience:
