A Camera That Sees Like The Human Eye

Could you imagine what the world would be like if someone (or a company) invented a camera that sees things in the same way that the human eyes does? Well, if you can, good for you but you may no longer have to. Why? Because a company based out of Switzerland, called iniLabs, are working on a technology that will allow for a camera to be made that will replicate the retina in the human eye. While this company is only in the beginning stages of developing this technology by catching up on their Biology, they seem to find it very likely that they'll succeed and that it will be a very promising piece of technology. Similar to the neurons in human eyes, the camera (which is called the Dynamic Vision Sensor) will only respond to "changes in a given scene." Cool, huh?
The chief scientific officer at the company had this to say about the camera: "Your eye and my eye are digital cameras too. They’re just a different kind of digital camera."

Just how promising is this new technology? Well, iniLabs is working alongside IBM if that tells you anything. While IBM has fell off the market in recent years as far as developing actual computers (what they're probably still known for to most), they haven't slacked off in the technology department by any means. If advanced and sophisticated technology is something you're into, keep your eye out for this one. There's no word yet as to when this camera will be completed but there is currently a prototype floating around (which you can see in the picture above) that resembles a few different cameras that are currently on the market. In short, the Dynamic Vision Sensor promises to be something truly life changing but we want to know just how excited you might be for something like this so by all means, feel free to let us know!
