Buenos Dias Talkers. Gary woke up this morning to rain. After years and years of drought ... the rain is odd. Five days of rain in the last week. Rain here has always been a bit odd, unusual ... but with the drought it has become very odd. Thursday, Mary Lou and Gary watched Linda Vista at the Mark Taper Forum. (DTLA) It was a extremely well written about a middle aged, former news photog ... sharp and articulate guy ... but who's really screwed up. Funny and sad Gary recommends the play if any of you have the chance to see it. The play started at 8:00 p.m. We arrived early and camped out on the patio enjoying a light dinner of tamale, empanada and vino. A bit on the cool side, but comfortable if bundled up.
We all know that Gary enjoys cooking. Gary's latest cookbook is SALTFATACIDHEAT. A wonderful book more about cooking in general than recipes. The author, Samin Nosrat, feels that mastering these fundamental elements of cooking would upgrade one's overall cooking expertise. She also has video series of the same name. In the video, she sprinkles salt(s) rather than shake or grind the salt. Gary liked that and consequently, order some salt containers for his salt.
