Okay, Gary will start.

It is raining today here in California, cold, windy and wet.  For most this is no big deal, but we are in a drought and the rain is odd but welcomed (except for the fire areas where the rain is causing landslides).

As Gary keyboards, he is sipping a cup of Peruvian Approcassi ... delish. Gary roasts his bean.

Every Thursday is Samy's Camera ad day.  Every Thursday Samy's posts pages of camera stuff on sale in the Los Angeles Times. Today is "No Tax Sale" days, which is significant out here as LA County enjoys a 10% sales tax. Two and a half pages of camera stuff today ... Canon R - $2299, Nikon D850 3296, Sony A7RIII - $2798, Fuji X-T3 - 1499 (w/grip $199 and $130 instant rebate).

Buenos Dias Fellow Photographytalkers-

Gary shall continue his monologue, but he sure hopes others will join him with a bit of a chat.  It is 50F presently in SoCal, it is projected to hit a pleasant 73F by the early afternoon. Gary takes a sip of his coffee.  Gary mixed some beans this morning, Colombian Supremo with Peruvian Approcassi ... tastes the same as if they were not mixed. B)  But it is all delish.  Gary likes coffee.  Time to take Miss Maggie for her morning constitutional.  More when we come back.

Yesterday, Gary cooked up some bread.

It is delish.  Gary tossed in herbs and peppers from the garden.  Friends came over for wine and some dinner.  It was quite a pleasant afternoon, hanging around the patio, jazz on the stereo, chatting about old times and sipping wine. We went through two Zins, David Marchesi from the foothills of the Sierra Nevada and the other Zin from The Russian River Vineyard up in Sonoma. After dinner, a veggie pizza, we all relaxed in the hot tub. All-in-all a very enjoyable afternoon and evening.

Buenos Dias Fellow Photographytalkers,It is 8:00 a.m. and a crisp 51F this morning.  Gary is sipping a cup of Peruvian waiting for Mary Lou and Maggie to start our day with a morning walk.  68F is the projected high … could be better … could be worse. Those pics are making me hungry....wait....I'm always hungry, I've got the belly to prove it.

Wait till y'all see the muddy Maggie, she is a trip.

Its 24 freakin degrees out, windy, overcast. No ambition to get out and shoot in this.

I have taken a serious break from forums as of late, just not feeling it. A lot of times I feel pretentious posting any images. I have been hitting the shutter a lot but more event type stuff, nothing real creative.

The last forum that I was very active in just got super weird with useless, hurtful responses. It happened to me a couple times, but I noticed a real increase in it, so I bailed. The thing was, it was mainly moderators, which is kind of bizarre.

Ugly sweater Christmas party this weekend. The dish to pass for each attendee? your best soup. Glad I'm married because mine would be Campbell's soup. Bet Gary can make some soup. The wife is making some kind of quesadilla soup. She makes good soups.

Buenos Dias Fellow Photographytalkers,

@ DeBoove:  Last night Gary and Mary Lou finished up the last of the Beef-Barley soup.  It was soooo good. Gary used the crock pot and dumped in veggies herbs and peppers from the yard.

8:20 a.m. and 55F, overcast and looks like rain, but should hit the mid 60's today. Gary and Mike are arguing about who makes the best tacos, Ortega's Fish and Grill or Tacos Baja.  Yesterday, was Taco Tuesday at Ortega's ... a buck ana half per taco.  Gary had a crispy fish, carnitas and adobada tacos.  Soooooo delish.  Today is Taco Wednesday at Tacos Baja.  Gary has never been to Taco Baja ... so watch this space for a report.  Off on the morning walk.

Two fish tacos from Tacos Baja.

The verdict:

Mike and Gary vote for Ortega's Fish and Grill fish tacos.
Mary Lou votes for Tacos Baja fish tacos.

Firstly- Both places serve up very very good food.  Tacos Baja is more fast foodie, limited seating, lineup to order, et cetera.  Ortega's is a sit down restaurant with servers and beer.

Ortega's battered fish pieces are slightly more crispy and that extra bit of crispness is enough for Ortega to beat Tacos Baja. Both places double wrap the tacos in a soft, corn tortilla with a slight advantage going again to Ortega's due to slightly better tasting tortillas.

Mary Lou went for Tacos Baja because she felt there was more taco stuffing in Taco's Baja and a better crema sauce with cilantro.
