American Express card holders or card holders with annual fees... READ THIS

I thought I would share this.  As I'm editing todays video, I get a notice that one of my AMEX cards balance went up.  It happens to be one that I haven't used in last few months and has a near zero balance.  Well turns out AMEX processed my $550 annual fee (AMEX Delta Platinum Reserve Card).  I started thinking about this... I pay these ridiculous fees each year because I travel alot and get plenty of value from having the cards.  This year I haven't traveled and all trips had been canceled for obvious reasons, so therefor got zero value from having these cards. 

So I Googled "AMEX annual fee Covid waive"... The only thing that found was AMEX was giving miles if you kept your card open in question.  I called up AMEX told them I had no intent of closing my accounts, however have not been able to receive benefits.  I was offered 60,000 miles for the Delta Platinum Reserve Card, and they had an offer running on my Platinum Card for 50,000 miles.  So I was able to pick up 110,000 miles that of course don't expire!  Just note these are personal cards, I did ask about my Platinum business cards, which they don't have any offers as of yet.  The miles will be added to your account in 8-12 weeks, and you can't close your cards for 12 months.  I've been with AMEX since 1989 so reminded them I was going nowhere.  

BAM!... sharing this as those miles could be a round trip once all this Covid stuff is behind us.  If you have an AMEX card  OR have a credit card that has annual fees, call up your credit card company and see what they are offering... as I understand, other companies are doing the same.

Awesome tip!  I forgot to mention that yesterday I was able to get 50,000 miles from American Express.  I only have the Platinum card, but 50,000 is 50,000 miles!  I can't wait for the day I can actually do something with it!
