That is what I heard! So do you get warranties on any electronics? I know when you buy a camera here they offer less cost with over seas models but there is no warranty.

I think what you buy in the U.S. is grey market things (also called parallel imports). We have those here too (without warranties).
We can pay more and get gear with warranties (which I do) and AFAIK they extend to worldwide in the case of lenses (I know for sure my Nikon lenses have a World Wide warranty). As for bodies, I'm pretty sure you don't have any warranty. I just checked the box of my D3s and it had a warranty for HK and China.
As for Canon, I'm not too sure. My Canon using friend (in HK) told me it's the same story (yes for lenses, no for bodies) but don't take my word for gospel on that one.
