Hey guys,
Alright, this is the only place that I know of linked via viewbug to a type of forum to talk to other photographers. And thats just what I need,
I'm currently enrolled in college and we're approaching our final project which is pretty much "Pick what you want to do" without any sort of guidelines. After spending a lot of time thinking about what I want to do, I finally came up with something! I'm a person who likes to challenge myself a lot, I want to improve because I still only count myself as an Amateur Photographer. I want attempt doing Surreal Photos.  I just want to know if anyone on here has any advice going about shooting, I feel once I get the shots down I can properly create the photos I want through photoshop as I've read some tutorials on them, but I never found any advice on actually shooting them. I feel the true challenge of making a surreal photo is actually taking a proper photos and making sure they're believable.

I appreciate any tips that are given! And thank you in advance!

You might want to look up photographers/artists who did work in surrealism like Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, Man Ray (his photograms which he called Rayographs), and Herbert Bayer.

You might try looking up scenes from movies like Orson Welles' 'The Lady from Shanghai', the mirror scene near the end of the film; and Hitchcock's 'Spellbound' dream sequence done by Salvador Dali.

Canvas vs paper...which one is better? Personally, I prefer canvas because it looks great, is long-lasting, and can be very budget-friendly.
