How to photograph fish?

13 years 1 week ago #56868 by Chas
My cousin has this..oh god has to be like a 50 gallon fish tank if not bigger. Full of fish of all kinds. Every time I try to take pictures of the fish, they come out blurry. So how can I take pictures, without blur?

the only thing you can do is use a really fast lens, and get some lights

If we could see some of the blurry shots it would help nail the answer. Try this... Manual focus, no flash, low ambient room light (read no reflections here), and perhaps a high ISO to give you some shutter speed. Clean optics are a must - this included the tank...

Model Canon EOS 60D
Date/time original 3/18/2011 2:06:04 PM
Shutter speed value 1/83 s
Aperture value f/5.7
ISO speed ratings ISO 6400
Exposure bias value 0.00 eV
Metering mode Spot
Flash Flash did not fire, compulsory flash mode
Focal length 109 mm
White balance Auto white balance

using a tripod is a must. fast lens would help, but if you don't have one, it's ok. Fast shutter speed. Enough light...using lamps or even studio lights. You could use a flash, but bounce it, otherwise you will create a reflection.
