30 Days of Tuscany- Day 13- CASTEL DEL PIANO

This area of Tuscany was known to have existed in pre-historic times and was officially established in 890 A.D. on the slopes of Mt. Amiata, which was sacred to the Etruscans.

The neighborhoods of Castel del Piano present the best opportunities for photographs. This is a typical street in one of the four contrada (districts) in the city.

This is a very busy mechanic's shop, as it is one of the few that exist outside of Rome.

Another neighborhood scene in a more modern area of the city.

Shop on the main street running through town.

Bust from the exterior of the main church in town.

My first plunge into the world of Topaz during our most recent photography workshop. The instructor hated it. However, when posted on the Tuscan Muse FB page, it received more "likes" than any other photo that had been posted prior to that time. Go figure.

This is a dog that is always in the same doorway of the same shop everytime I visit Castel del Piano. I have affectionately named him "Freckles". On each trip to Castel del Piano, I always wonder if he will be there. He always is.

I would love to photograph this town one day. There is so much charm and history in all the photos. That dog looks so comfortable too.

Thank you Ian. Castel is a wonderful place to shoot, especially if you wander off of the main street into the neighborhoods. I'm very partial to "Freckles", but I always wonder if he isn't a little bit sad to be leashed to the front door of the shop all day.

Great clicks. But the last photo where the dog is, seems to be bit of out of focus.
