1) I like the textures, colors and shapes here. Some additional PP would help, I think. I would also suggest a long exposure shot to smooth out the water.

Unfortunately, when I look at it, the only thing I see is that black rock in the middle. If the composition were such that it was clear that the black rock (the exception in the frame) were the point, and intentional, then that would be OK. But that's not clear to me.

But compositionally I find it pleasant.

2) I don't know what that thing is, so I'll call it a chair. The time of day is unfortunate, as the light is harsh. I like the chair, the dock, the rocks, the water, the mountains in the distance, and the clouds. Additional PP to manage the cloud texture would be good.

I really like the fact that the horizon is level, but the edge of the dock is not. A wonderful diagonal line that creates uneasiness.

I would think that a slightly different crop would be an improvement: try to get the dock, water and mountains/sky to each occupy about 1/3 of the vertical space. As it stands now, the upper half of the image is just kinda wasted. There's nothing there to really look at.

As always, for me.

Hi Misha,

Gary's tips are good.
It seems that you lack white in you image. I hope you have levels in your processor.
The deck seems dirty or unevenly wet. When you blow up the image to frame,
it will bother you.
I like the simplicity and creativeness of your shots.

1) Lacks a bit of saturation and clear idea of the subject. If the black rock is your subject, as gary suggested, I'd suggest emphasizing it in some method. If the rocks in general are your subject i'd just and saturate their colour, to me they look kind of boring.

2)Clear subject, interesting photo. I agree with gary about a different crop so the majority of the shot isn't wasted, and I'd also try next time to smooth the water, such as gary said in the first photo. By doing that you'll create a new level of peace and serenity.

I hope my critique helps a bit, I'm also relatively new here ^^
