Best tripod for under $275

9 years 8 months ago #398081 by Marvel Fan
I'm trying to keep most my budget for getting some new lenses.  I only have a 50mm lens and still need to get a tripod and a cable release for taking photos a night.  I called up a company called B&H and they are going to send me a catalog for me to view.  I have also saved their website, but there are so many tripods on there!  I was told to ask my questions here.  So this is my first forum and I'm not sure if I'm doing this right or if there are limits to the number of questions you can ask at once.

Can someone just tell me what is the best tripod I can get for $275 please?  Thank you.

Mike

B&H is a great place, Adorama is another, I personally would stick with brands such as Manfrotto, Really Right Stuff, Three Legged Thing and there are a couple other brands, but those are the main good brands off the top of my head. I have a Manfrotto travel Tripod, is costed roughly 250$~ and I love it. The only downside is having to fold it up a second time to make it more compact.

You should look at the MeFoto or Slik tripods.  Vanguard is another really good tripod.

If at all possible, get to a store to check out the different tripods for yourself.  Here are links to a few articles on tripod selection -

I am having proaim tripod 75 mm with fluid head and spreader. Its price is very less and quality wise its solid.
But i think aluminum tripods are more solid and sturdy and stable than carbon fiber tripod.

My tripod is really good and well-built..
I am happy with it....

Thank you Randy, I appreciate you taking the time and sharing those tips.   I have read other reviews saying the same on the aluminum tripods (weight/sturdy).  I think I'm going to go with carbon fiber this time around, just because I want something light weight.  All I need to do is figure out which one.
