3 Legged Thing QR11-LG Universal L-Bracket for Nikon D800?

Have any you tried one of these universal l-brackets made by 3 Legged thing vs a more specific bracket made for the D800?

$50 bucks isn't a bad deal if it works and fits well.

A buddy just bought one of their tripods, it's a nice tripod for the money.  Don't know much about these L brackets of theirs.  It looks nice.  Do they offer it in the anodized orange?

A) Follow the link. The Amazon page shows me the orange version. Of course, there's always the 3LT website.

2) I didn't know they offered them in gray.

Seems like a good buy. What's funny is one of the reviews

"Some L-brackets are $5 while others are $50. Why? Some are simply a bent aluminium bar which, when put to the test, they are found to not be a 90-degree angle and/or has some torsion tucked into the turn. To counter this, some are assembled of two separate components, but only use a single screw. These poor designs promote steps in your panoramas and put a touch of tilt in your portraits."

Where is this guy finding L brackets for $5?!

I'm seeing L brackets for $50 (this one) while others are $150 to $200.  So this one looks like a bargain!
