JOBY GORILLAPOD 3K |DO YOU NEED IT?| (ONE YEAR LATER)

Do you need the Joby Gorillapod 3K for your vlogging setup or to take pictures at unique angles? I have owned the Joby Gorillapod 3K for 1 year now and it has its ups and downs but some of the downs may be a deal breaker.

Sounds like you need the 5k Gorillapod

Well, yes, he should have been using the one with the greater weight capacity, but more importantly he needs to understand physics and how to properly use a tiny tripod. The complaints about setting it on a table top are silly when all you have to do is consider weight distribution and center of gravity. Which is not over the ball head.

As for securing it, yes, again, weight and physics.

Bummer on the cracking. I'd complain to them.

I have the 3k and 5k.  3k is for small cameras, that DLSR is a stretch for that thing.  No wonder it's failing him or difficult to balance at times.  Knowing what is the right tool for the job, having it will make a world of difference. The crack is likely from not using this tool with the right gear.  I'm not saying the weight of this DSLR did that, but because the camera is too big for this Gorillapod, he was most likely having to adjust this more than typical use, which lead to fatigue in the plastic.  Who knows, just my 2 cents.

Got 2 of the 5k and it's one of my favorite items in my camera bag

I have both, and the only thing I don't like with the 3k is that it doesn't have the arca swiss head.

I bought a 3k and returned it when I saw it didn't have the arca swiss head and picked up a 5k
