Tripod suggestions

I am looking into purchasing a new tripod. Basically, I need some recommendations. I don't want to buy junk but my budget is limited. I am by no means a professional. What tripod will work for someone in the middle of beginner and pro?

I've had really good luck with Manfrotto/Bogens. My suggestion is make sure whatever you get is good and sturdy. When the legs are fully extended, make sure it does not wobble or shake much.

You can definitely get a sturdy tripod for under 100 bucks. BUT! It's going to be one heck of heavy tripod. Do you mind carrying a heavy tripod or no?

No, I don't mind if it's heavy. I think right now for where I am at I just need something to start with.

My Velbon works wonderfully, it is carbon fiber and does all it has too!

A lot of times you can find a somewhat old tripod, its big, its heavy, its really sturdy, but its cheap on ebay.

Have you looked at places that sell used equipment? Like KEH? You might be able to save some $$ on a better tripod.

I would recommend you look at either Slik Professional, these are really fair priced Manfrotto clones IMO, and then there are the Vanguard line of tripods that are very nice too!

Friend of mine has one of their tripods, pretty nice tripod. They have a Manfrotto ball head on it.
