Landscape photography settings

6 years 2 months ago #565124 by Luca
When someone asks you what are the landscape photography settings you typically us, what do you say?  I got asked today and to me, this is a loaded question with so many variables.  I didn't have a clear answer, one size fit's all.

Would you agree, or do you have a caned answer to this question?

Depends on what i'm shooting.

If you were on location taking the photo, I would just tell them last used settings.  If this is out of the blue question asked at a cocktail party, I'd reply something like "It varies depending on what I'm shooting, however about 80% of the time, I'm shooting in manual mode, with 20% in aperture priority.  Depending on available light, I'm shooting at the lowest ISO I can, and aperture is set depending on what I want done with the depth fo field".

I agree. But a canned answer is likely what they want. Which for me would be Aperture priority, AutoISO, DR medium, f/11. Assuming no filter.
