Do you need both a TTL and Manual flash?

As I understand it a manual flash only works in full manual mode, so if you want to use any other mode you need a TTL, but TTL's are fickle and imprecise, so you need manual for your important shots?

No you just need a TTL model.  They also have a manual mode.  What you do need for sure is an extension cable for the flash so you can get the unit away from the lens for better lighting.

Most flashes come with several modes. I use M for studio
work but for all other type of shootings I go for TTL.

Light is free… capturing it is not!
