Doing some research and have found Fisheye I think and does it go over the lens that you have or is it a lens on it's own??

Are there different lengths and f and stuff??

So much to learn= Crazy

Two types. One is a regular fisheye (very short focal length), the other is a lens that attached to your regular lens and makes it a fisheye. Difference - the first to Much more expensive and give Much better results in clarity. The second, not so much, usually inexpensive and more distortion.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

Thanks.. boy so many things to learn. That is why I wanted to see if ther was a book to look at = I know that the stuff would be outdated but at least I would get an understand of ALL the different lens, the length, the F and a ton more stuff..

I love to learn and I feel like I am a bit on the outside.. still looking in - Guess I should read up on the lenses that I have and see what stuff they are good for etc..

lol okay, kidding aside, a fisheye is essentially a super wide angle lens that they don't bother doing distortion correction on, so it gives that nice fishbowlish appearance. Fun lenses to use. They come in about 4mm to 17mm. Lower focal lengths will give a more "fisheye" effect.

And yes, should you want one, go for the dedicated fisheye lens over the attachments. Much better image quality

In terms of usefulness, well, it has limited uses. For most it's just a fun lens to dink around with. I used to have a Sigma one, and it didn'tsee much use, so I sold it to my neighbor's teenager, who skateboards a lot. He uses it tons.

:agree:
But to a certain extent. I use the hell out of mine. A fisheye is a totally fun lens. Marcie you can see some photos I put on here shot with the 10.5 Nikon fish in the lens section on how often do you use one. Once you learn a fisheyes limitations you can shoot quite a bith with it, and now you can even use programs like Hemi to flatten the image. It makes it look like a rectilinear lenses view then.

Which is one more than your camera, unless you happen to have a twin-lens reflex.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.
