Is Canon on Mars? $850 for a lens hood?

So I'm working on my wish list of new goodies I want this winter. One happens to be a Canon EF 200mm f/2L IS USM Telephoto Lens. While looking around at the accessories for this lens I came across on the Canon site the Lens Hood ET-120B that they sell for $850?

Honestly regardless of what you are spending on the lens, would you drop $850 on a lens hood?

Those lenses are for pros who earn money with them (or very rich enthusiasts).

If you earn more than the lens cost using it, the cost isn't important.

One good thing Nikon does, is include a lens shade with most of their lenses.

You would think they could get the raw materials cheaper if they recycled some of that Empire Body Armor... I guess when you have the whole market for that particular item you can charge what you want for it. I wonder what it would look like if you put one of those skins on it?

I guess that I am confused .... The Canon 200 comes with a lens hood .... You would only need a replacement if you lost or broke the original. There are alternative hoods on the market

Does that make it any less silly? Does running a successful business not include not blowing money on dumb things?
