found a Canon FD 50mm F/1.8 SC in a box bought at garage sale is it worth spending the money for a adapter for my eos body..

Is it worth $25 to try? Not much risk unless the lens is damaged.

I've been thinking of buying the 50mm f1.8 for my eos body anyways but was wondering if i play with this one can i compare it in anyway..other than it will be manual focus...The lens looks like its in really good shape..

Probably to check the "effect" but not sure if the newer AF model ($120) new has better glass.

Note that "adapter" design includes a lens, so the resulting focal length will be longer than 50mm, and the f/1.8 will shrink. This lens is needed for an infinity focus. Thus this is really a "converter", that happens to also fit the old Canon lens to the current EOS body.

You can get simple adapters, no lens, for Olympus OM, Nikon, and Pentax PK lenses. Thus no focal length or f/-ratio change with those.

Short version, I wouldn't bother, unless you were looking for a soft portrait application.
