To buy the Canon 50mm 1.2 or no?

Despite it taking me a 1 year or so when I first started to finally listen to my mentor and get a fixed lens, I have not turned back since. Above all other lenses - I definitely shoot most with my 50. First the 50mm 1.8 and now the 1.4. For years I have drooled over the 1.2 but never been able to pull the trigger.

Who out there has, and is still glad they did, Or visa versa, anyone get it and then regret it?

IF you use your 50mm a lens a bunch then the 50mm 1.2 is the "Mac Daddy" of lenses for your tastes. In my opinion it is worth the additional dollars when cost compared to the 50 1.4 or 1.8 .... But again only if you are going to shoot with a fixed 50mm lens, as your primary "go to" lens. If it is just another lens in your bag then stick with the 1.4.

That helps! Now the only things is my hesitation to bring such a nice lens everywhere I go. On vacation this year, I had someone take our picture, and in the hand back - they actually dropped it. Right on the 1.4

I suppose thats what is insurance is for regardless.

If you can work around the focus shifting, it's a great lens.

I thought about purchasing one for a while but for some reason I do not function well at 50mm

35, 85 and 135mm is a different story :P

Those are 3 out of the 4 reasons I would shoot Canon again.
