What lenses do you have? I carry a 70-300mmIS (about $500) for wildlife, etc. and a 50mm Canon f/1.8 for lower light (about $100).
Each has their own purpose so it depend son what you want to shoot.
You can get a basic 70-300mm Canon lens (no-IS) for about $125. I used one all summer while my Is was being repaired and got some very good shots.

These are with a Canon SXi and a Canon 70-300 non-IS used lens from B&H.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

I'm torn between getting something I can reach out and shoot the moon or maybe a lens for the bug crawling up the wall. I chose a 18-270mm Tamaron for my Canon.

Nice shots John. I always keep an eye out for our local eagle. I've seen him twice now with no photo.

Get some eels or chicken parts and leave them where the eagle can see them and the other critters can't, especially early and late. We think a couple of eels left out as a joke attracted that young one. He's been back ever since.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

I do have the 70-300 cannon and the 18-55 and a 135, When I do pictures I like to blur my back ground, any suggestions?

Hard for me to picture just how your shots are set up. Try searching the popular photo hosting sites like Flickr and Pbase. Find shots there similar to what you want, check what focal length lens they used.
