My hard drive keeps making a clicking noise, is this 100% time to get a new hard drive? Or can these be repaired?

Could be a software issue. The drive is constantly searching for something.

A grinding noise is your 100% replacement warning.

I had hard drive failure a few years back and it had a clicking noise just prior to it failing.

I had the blue screen of death a few years ago, I lost so much off that. My hard drive was making noise for a couple months before it died.

This sounds like it may be mechanical. Not usually good. Back up now.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

Drives are cheap - forget the repair - buy a new drive. Buy an external as well for backups.

Backup the old drive ASAP then run a chkdsk and defrag on the old drive. See if the clicking goes away.
