How often should I calibrate my monitor?

Good morning.  Out of curiosity, how often are you calibrating your monitor?  I was just watching a YouTube video where the speaker spoke about doing it  once a month with a Data  Spyder.

If this is needed (which I have never done), why do monitors fall out of calibration?

I will admit, that since tubes are no longer on the market,
much less with the newer technologies. He is right for tho-
se but that was more for industry workers.

Everything will fall "off" one way or the other and the need
to control industry standards justifies the procedure. How-
ever, modern equipments have more stable performances.

I did calibrate my mine in first month — that was year ago.
I will use the time given by the lull to perform it again and
confirm or correct eventual diversions. The degree of the
read diversions should suggest when the next calibration.

The brain has its own ways with chrominance & luminance
values with time.

I know people that do it monthly.  I'm not there yet, however I believe some even recommend those color intervals.  Which monitor do you have?  You could check with the manufacture and see what they recommend too.

As needed, no set frequency.

Well, no. The whole point of drift is that it is too gradual to detect. So just follow the suggestion of the device (typically every three weeks) and do it regularly.

NO way Ken, new technologies make a road map of
what was a calendar. There are a few players that pull
their own strings.

New screen are way more stable then the cathodic
antiques. Observed or measured small differences of
your screen will not affect the output since the profile
has not changed. And then, there is your flexible brain
that will forgive small nuances.
