Output Sharpening when exporting from Lightroom?

When you are exporting from Lightroom, are you using the "Output Sharpening" for Screen?  If so,  are you setting it to "Low", "Standard" or "High"?

I just noticed this, and seeing that I'm already sharpening in LR, wondering if this will give my images to much sharpening.

Are you using?

You will sharpen 3 times when processing an image: when a RAW file is imported, during normal PP, and when printing or exporting as an image.

I used masked sharpening in LR, possibly some HP (in PS) if needed, and I sharpen for screen "standard" when I export to my portfolio folders in Drive. I also sharpen for "glossy" or "matte" when printing.

This is news for me.  Rather that sharpening is taking place when the photo is imported?  Is this something we can control like the 'Output sharpening'?

Please note that I refer to LR.

There's another thread here that discusses import settings, where (default) some sharpening occurs. I believe you can turn it off.

But encourage the reading of the article that I linked to. It's very good.

Hmmm, now you have me going to LR to check that out!  Never noticed this.  So can this extra sharpening, bring your photo over the top then?

So what's the need behind this?  If you have already sharpened your image to the safe side of the tipping point, then it sharpens it for you further.  Now your shot is over cooked.
