Post processing light pollution from photos?

4 years 11 months ago #643994 by Mark T
l'm working on my night time photography and there is slight light pollution showing up in some of my shots.

I tried using -1 exposure compensation and it seemed like it worked a little, but still I see light pollution in my shots.

Is there a filter or something I can do in Lightroom or Photoshop for this?

Thank you.

Mark

Are you talking about too much ambient lighting? I don't believe you can fix much of that post process. In all of the experiences I have had, getting someplace completely free of unwanted ambient lighting is key to night photos, especially with sky photos

Not that I'm aware of, Mark.

Light pollution is like smog, it blocks any details you
wanted to capture. One may succeed to reduce their
presence in post but there will be nothing behind to
replace it with… outside a manipulation like a sky re-
placement or else. :(

Light is free… capturing it is not!

No.

This is why we get away from developments, and seek dark sky areas, for astrophotography.

We travel to west Texas and remote areas from time to time. It is absolutely incredible how much your eyes see once you get out in to these more remote places and the city lights aren't "clouding" the sky up. You can see sooooo many stars...
