Whiten a clients yellowish teeth in post?

What's your policy when you have a clients teeth that are yellowish in the photos you have taken?  Most things I'll run by my client if they want me to do.  But this, would you ask for just sparkle up their teeth a little?   If their teeth are the same color yellow as the highway paint, I'm not talking about making them frosty white from here.  Just a mild whitening.

Would that be OK in your book?

I don’t see this as being any different than editing skin blemishes; if it’s distracting from the photo and not a major part of a subjects “character”, light editing is appropriate, IMO. For instance, is this person homeless? Just bad hygiene? Very poor? Just doesn’t care much about how white their teeth are?

This can be very subjective considering much of the world thinks Americans teeth are too perfect and white while other cultures embrace the “natural” look; brushing and flossing, but no straightening or whitening

:agree:   … that sounds pretty reasonable.

Light is free… capturing it is not!

I will do it within reason. It should look natural. But the client will notice, so be prepared.

I'm of the same opinion.  I will brighten up teeth to  reasonable levels.  I don't make them look like 'Something About  Mary' (movie reference  in case you wondering what I'm talking about).  I will brighten up a couple shades of white.

I'll make mild changes to whiten their teeth, however if anything major needs to be done, I'll always ask them first.
