Photoshop assistance needed please

Ive been having a bit of trouble with my CS4 Photoshop. 7 out of 10 times the program will randomly shut down when I'm using it. I have not been able to nail a time that it always does it, just that it does. This is a brand new computer that I only use for Photoshop. I don't even surf the web with it. Photoshop worked on it for the first 2 months or so, but then all of sudden stopped?

I have tried calling Adobe and all they want me to do is buy CS5. I don't see why I need to buy another program when all they need to do is trouble shoot this one.

Please let me know what you think.

Cheers!

I'd just do a clean re-install. What OS, BTW?

+1
And what specs on your PC? Memory, etc. could be an issue.
The Adobe response is similar to the Microsoft one when they ruled the planet.

So you think I should do a fresh install of it?

Uninstall and then reinstall will clean up any potentially corrupt files. It's what I would try after the usual diags on the PC are performed. I'll cross my fingers - that should help.

I sure would. Your system has decent specs too, so there shouldn't be a problem when you re-install. Make sure you uninstall what you already have from "programs and features" found in your control panel in the start menu before re-installing.

BTW, here's a great registry cleaner to help keep your system fast and clean. I normally don't recommend software to anyone, especially a free one like this, but I use it myself. Unlike those annoying reg cleaners you may get spammed with on internet pages, this one is completely safe.

Sounds about right for Adobes help desk. Be as was said reinstall. Also do you have a second hard drive in you computer? If you do set it as the Scratch Disk for PS to use. If not get one and install it then use it as the Scratch Disk.
