If you shoot a film, and you underexpose it either deliberately or by accident, you can correct the film density by "push processing".

I've never heard of push processing but I have heard of pushing the film where you deliberately underexpose the film by setting the ISO higher than the film to make it "seem" faster than it is. The two terms dovetail nicely. Thanks.

Those standing in line at Wal-Mart to get to the photo kiosks to have prints made.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

Pushing or push processing a film to a higher ISO /speed by 1 to 2 Stops allows you to use a slower film than the ambient light level would require. 400 speed film can be "pushed " to 1600 speed or 800 speed film can be pushed to 3200 speed yielding an acceptable negative that is not too "thin" to produce an acceptable print.

I did this a lot back in my concert photography days. Thats one of the wonderful things about digital, you can change the iso on each shot, not have to push the entire roll of film.....B)

Why so serious?
