Digital art and manipulation

Hey guys,

This week I took some studio shots of a model and half way through I noticed she had an unusual 'heart broken' tattoo on her leg. Inspiration struck but due to bad weather I couldn't set up the shot I had in my head on location so took a standard shot on a white backdrop and thought not much more of it. A few days ago however I I opened it up and considered that I might be able to create the look I wanted in post production. Now I haven't really worked with layers before or anything other than basic editing and colour popping so this was a learning curve! I found a couple of royalty free images on the web and got to work. I must say I was really surprised at how much I enjoyed 'creating' this image. I haven't seen much digital art on here so thought I would start a thread for opinions and give people a chance to post any composite digital art images.

Digital art is not that much different from other art forms. There is good and there is BAD, My only objection is when people try to pass the bad off as photography. Just my opinion as a photographer and a painter.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

Thanks for you opinions!

Well I can't say I have much experience of looking through digital art images so may not be the best person to have an opinion. I do know that I don't consider it 'photography' as such, perhaps closer to painting although you may disagree!!

FMV, not only is the photo you posted beautiful, well done, but your profile image...looks cold.

Thank you - and I can assure you it was not only cold, it was utterly baltic with a windchill of about -15! I have a warmer one now :)

Yours looks - well, infectious!
