I always seem to have to straighten mine, no matter what PP software I am using. I do this to keep all the water from flowing off the nd of the earth.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

I use ACR, but the processing tools are the same so I'll comment. The great thing is that LR/ACR are set up to automatically apply the processing non-destructively, so it doesn't really matter where you start.

I have several saved pre-sets that I start with. These are mainly sharpening and noise reduction settings, but some of the other settings are also adjusted. I have one that's my normal default, one for landscapes and lots of detail, and one for high ISO/low light.

I usually start with leveling and cropping. If it's a BW photo I do that. After that I pretty much just go down the list: wb, exposure, blacks, brightness, contrast, and clarity. I tend to control contrast more with the the curve than the contrast slider. I don't use recovery, fill, vibrance, and saturation with most photos, so those get adjusted later if needed. Lastly I burn and dodge, clean up dust spots, etc...
