Who does craft fairs?

Does any one here do craft fairs for holiday sales? I am debating entering one and want to know if anyone has had success and if you did cash and carry or special orders?

I did my very first fair yesterday. I sold 2 photos (exciting but not enough to cover entrance cost). I figure it was an okay start. I have another on 10/27 (no entrance cost) and one on 12/3 (small fee).

I will take a photo of my setup at the 10/27 show and likely post it here.

Congrats on selling the two photos. How many did you have printed? What sizes did you offer? Good luck with future fairs.

I offered mounted prints from 6x9 up to 12x18 along with some framed and some matted prints. In total, I had about 130 photos with me at the sale. I sold one 6x9 and one 12x18 matted.

I've been wondering this myself. I did a benefit sale for Doctors without Borders with friends and they just had a slideshow playing on a TV and people ordered prints. I'm sure the same could be done with a tablet or some sort of portable display but then you lose the impulse, I want it now type shoppers. I think I sold about 5 or 6 that day but they were a lot of my friends there (some strangers too) and they all knew the proceeds were going to charity so they prob spent more than they may have normally, I'm not sure.

The cost of buying a bunch of prints has really been what's turned me off from the idea. If I didn't move so much it would be fine to have an inventory at home and just go to shows from time to time, sell them off slowly, but it's not really pracitcal for me right now.
