I was in a farmers' market and asked about their credit card processing. They told me they had done a lot of research and decided upon "The Square". I need to look into it. They had it plugged into smart phone, then an IPad. Don't know anything about it but they seemed happy.

Yah my company uses something to that effect it turns your smart phone into one of those grey credit card boxes for the most part. You have a card strip scanner that plugs into the top of your phone and then you type in the amount due swipe and send it works fine.
We do a a lot of Dance Studios, and Marital Art studios photos so we have to be able to have a mobile credit card/debit card reader because we take are equipment with us to the schools and one day will maybe take the photos and(sometimes the same day sometimes not) do the proofing and taking the orders with the family's right there on the spot. ( It works so much better getting your foot in the door when you give them a no obligation to buy ( but they will) and seeing the proofs right on the spot then places that try to pre sale everything-just a side note-) We needed a way of swiping credit cards because writing peoples credit card info down and billing them when we got back to the office was taking to long and there is the whole liability issue with that as well so....

I use Square on my iPad to process credit cards. So far it's worked great.
