Are business cards a lost cause?

It's getting about that time when I would need to order some new business cards and just researching online I came across a blog site talking about the death of business cards. That these companies that make these are seeing less and less orders. Now why is that?

Canon 7D w/grip, Canon 40D, Canon 70-200mm f2.8 IS L Canon MPE 65mm f2.8 macro; Sigma 70-300mm f2.8; Sigma 150mm f2.8 macro; Sigma 8-16mm f4.5-5.6

More business is done online and less face to face.

It could also be more companies are making the cards and individual companies are getting less market share.

Who knows really. Thing is, they're worth having.

In hong kong I can. Get 300 cards for $50 hkd. Full colour semi-gloss (smooth surface) too. That's about $6usd for 300. 2¢ per card.

I still hand them out every chance I get and some of the reason for decreased orders may be that people are more and more often making their own as they need them rather than placing a big order.

Yes I use business cards all the time......... cheap form of advertising

You will not be judged as a photographer by the pictures you take, but by the pictures you show.

I handed out a half dozen cards this weekend.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

I still see them a lot. I think it's what the above poster said. With computers and printers in almost every home, it's easier and cheaper to make your own.
