Today at the Beach

First real chance to get some work outdoors with my 60D. Kinda loving it. The gull shots seemed crisp and the runner had just enough "blur" to show motion. Gonna be a fun couple of weeks.

Going to take some practice but its a lot of fun.

Wut PictureStyle? My 50D can kick out more contrast than that. But I avoid Faithful and Neutral.

These were in AP. I had the ISO set too high and hard too much aperture so the shutter speed was fast and the sun was blazing. These were jpegs straight from the camera with no addl PP. I am going to be out again today, setting the ISO back down and adding RAW. Still learning this camera and am reading the manual bit-by-bit.

Right. But the Av mode still lets you set a PictureStyle, which will be seen in a JPG. Will also be seen in a RAW, if the CR2 is developed with Digital Photo Professional. Though I should talk, all of my shots at telephoto settings seem a little muted too.

Toady was an entirely different kind of day, Did a little traveling aring and went to the beach much later and tried some new settings. Some worked, some didn't.

That's an interesting photo of the steps and the railing, and I like the nice warm sun on the beach in the last one.

Thanks Sharon. The railing is at the top of the wall at historic Fort Macon on North Carolina's "Crystal Coast". I was surprised to see such beautiful work on a old military site that served from the Antebellum Era, the Spanish-American War, the Civil War (often referred to here as "the recent unpleasantries") through WWII.
The sun was taken from Atlantic Beach about 6 miles down the coast at sunset.
I'm really loving the learning process.

Just be sure to learn Digital Photo Professional while you are at it. Fits the Canon EOS cameras like a glove.
