I think I am going to try the sunset tonight. Not many clouds, but it's been a bright sunny day and should give a fun sunset. I promise to keep going and posting my efforts!

I am just playing with this image- trying to see if there is a hot spot from the lens. Just my fat cat. If anyone sees a hot spot, please let me know, this is the lens I will need for the sunset tonight.

Bright sun is your friend with infra red photography. That's why I shoot it when the light is crappy for regular photography. Have fun with it.

That's what I was thinking Randy. I was reading some about it and ir seems to measure heat really as much as light; it measures light that has longer waves and is beyond what the human eye can see. So I got to thinking maybe ir would work better in brighter light than in low light.

What I found out about the focus is that as someone said, some lenses will have a dot to show you how much to change the focal length after you get in focus. Once you focus, you're supposed to then change your focus to a point closer to you and the camera - if your lens doesn't indicate where that is, it seems like it would just be trial and error.

Apparently a small aperture will help, as it will give you more depth of field with more of the area in focus to work better for ir - then you wouldn't have as much as an issure with finding where the best point is to focus. Most of what I read seems to include using a red filter to really get the ir effect in photos.
